Monterey Media has taken all US and Canadian rights to Sam Kadi’s debut drama The Citizen starring Agnes Bruckner. Radiant Films International launched the film to buyers in Cannes.
The 3K Pictures production also stars Khaled Nabawy, William Atherton and Cary Elwes and tells of an Arab immigrant named Ibrahim who wins the American Green Card Lottery and arrives in New York City one day before the 9/11 attacks.
Jazmen Brown, Samir Younis and Sam Kadi wrote the screenplay and Kadi produced with Chris Wyatt and Alan Noel Vega, while Ameer Kabour served as executive producer.
Monterey Media president Scott Mansfield negotiated the deal with Chris Sablan from Original Artists on behalf of the filmmakers.
“Five years working on The Citizen comes down to this exciting moment of signing with a well-respected distributor like Monterey Media who is so passionate about our film and thrilled to share this inspiring story with the audience in North America, said Kadi.
