Paris-based sales and production house MPM has secured a raft of deals on Mexican Jose Luis Valles’ Workers [pictured] which world premiered in Berlin’s Panorama section earlier this year.
The film has sold to the UK (Peccadillo), Benelux (Amstelfilm), France (ASC Distribution), Switzerland (Trigon Film) and HBO Latin America.
Set against the backdrop of the Mexican industrial city of Tjuana, the picture revolves around a mistreated factory worker and housemaid who decide to quietly but determinedly get revenge on their abusive employers.
The picture won the Mezcal Prize for best Mexican film and a cash reward of $34,000 (€25,800) at the Guadalajara Film Festival in March.
