The company will work with Paladin on the release of Drake Doremus’ Sundance title.

Red Dragon has picked up US distribution on the comedy Douchebag and will partner on the release with Cassian Elwes and Mark Urman’s Paladin.

A September release is planned for the Drake Doremus’ film, which premiered at Sundance and tells of two estranged brothers who embark on a pre-wedding road trip. UTA retains foreign rights.

Jonathan Schwartz produced through his Super Crispy Entertainment along with Marius Markevicius. Andrew Dickler and Ben York Jones star as the brothers.

Founded in 2008 by entrepreneur investor Franck Dubarry, Red Dragon is focused on the development and production of genre films in the $10-35m range.

The company recently completed production on the crime thriller 13 starring Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Ray Winstone and Sam Riley, which is Gela Babluani’s English language remake of his own 13 Tzameti.

Red Dragon is also developing the action project Five Against A Bullet, psychological thriller Focal Point and the Israeli spy thriller Land Of Our Fathers.

Elwes  and Urman launched Paladin last summer and have already released The Loss Of A Teardrop Diamond, Disgrace, The Greatest and Handsome Harry. Paladin is also about to release the Brett Ratner presentation Kites: The Remix in association with Reliance Big Pictures.

UTA’s Independent Film Group represented the film on behalf of the producers and negotiated the deal with attorney Lawrence Kopeikin of the firm Barnes Morris.
