Early in the market, sales outfit Reel Suspects has already announced multiple deals on its Cannes slate.
Tom The Truant [pictured], Manuel Pradal’s action movie for kids, has now gone to Ex-Yugoslavia (Fivia) and Russia and CIS (Most Media).
Meanwhile, And They Call It Summer, Reel’s erotic drama starring Jean Marc Barr and Isabella Ferrari, has gone to Japan (New Select). The film, which receives its market premiere in Cannes, tells the story of Dino and Anna. They love each other intensely, but their relationship is not conventional: they’ve never had sex. Dino’s discomfort is expressed by compulsive sex with prostitutes.
Reel’s Berlinale Panorama title Lose Your Head, has now been sold to the USA and UK (TLA) with a French deal imminent.
Lose Your Head is a psycho thriller about a Spanish party tourist who gets lost in Berlin. The film is inspired by the true story of a young Portuguese man who disappeared some years ago after a night at celebrated Berlin nightclub Berghain.
Here in Cannes, Reel is also handling And Love Eternal, a new Irish fantasy drama, by Brendan Muldowney.
Another new pick up is Ludo, an Indian film now in development. A teaser available at the booth. The film is being made by cult director Q and produced by Overdose.
Reel’s Alain Robbe-Grillet collection, already sold for US to Salvation Kino Lorber and for the UK to BFI, will be released by Carlotta in France in November. The collection has now gone to Cameo for Spain.
