EXCLUSIVE: Worldwide digital deals have been done with LoveFilm/Amazon, iTunes, Sony and Google, among others.
The producers of Riot On Redchurch Street are taking a unique approach to sales, by having Moviehouse sell theatrical and digital rights, and The Movie Partnership serving as consultants focusing on select digital platforms.
Worldwide digital deals have been done with LoveFilm/Amazon, iTunes, Sony and Google, with UK and Irish digital platforms also incluing Netflix, Everything Everywhere and YouTube, and US, Latin America, Scandinavia digital platforms also including Netflix, Hulu and Hulu-Plus.
Sean McClusky, co-founder of 1234 Films, said: “This is a very original set up – but we brought both these companies on board because we want to reach as wide an audience as possible. While we still want a theatrical release we also want to embrace digital platforms that are much more cost effective and more accessible to international audiences. Both The Movie Partnership andMoviehouse Entertainment are able to deliver a collaborative solution whichtranslates into a very modern version of selling a film.”
The Movie Partnership co-founder, Peter Dutton, said: “The way film is consumed is changing drastically, with high speed internet giving easy access to excellent quality on-demand and subscription content watching at home has never been easier or more appealing. From a distribution point of view, digital platforms provide much larger longer-term audiences and have significantly less requirements for marketing spend, and while there will always be a place for the big screen – particularly for 3D and action movies – for lower-budget films such as Riot, a digital release makes more sense.”
Mark Vennis of Moviehouse Entertainment added: “Digital platforms are vital and while theatrical releases are important it’s critical that online is integrated and we’re delighted to work with Peter to ensure all bases are covered.”
The film stars Alysson Paradis, Sam Hazeldine, Jesse Birdsall, Les McKeown and Lois Winstone.
McClusky produced alongside writer/director Trevor Miller.
The film is a rock and roll love triangle story set in East London.
1234’s slate also includes This Charming Man and Trip City.
