Company picks up US rights to François Ozon’s Competition title [pictured].
Sundance Selects has announced it has acquired US rights to François Ozon’s Young & Beautiful from Wild Bunch.
The deal for the film was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, senior vice president of acquisitions & productions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films, with Carole Baraton and Henri Fabre at Wild Bunch on behalf of the filmmakers.
Ozon’s drama stars Marine Vacth as a young woman coming of age from her sexual awakening to the loss of her virginity, and from her exploration of love to her search for her identity. It had its world premiere in Competition at Cannes.
Jonathan Sehring, president of Sundance Selects/IFC Films, commented: “With films like Swimming Pool and In the House, François Ozon has proven himself to be a master storyteller when it comes to sensuality in cinema and now, with Young & Beautiful, he has delivered another must-see film. We were all blown away by the incredible performance from Marine Vacth and can’t wait for our audiences in the US to be too.”
Young & Beautiful marks Sundance Selects’ third acquisition at this year’s Cannes following the label’s US deals for Abdellatif Kechiche’s Blue is the Warmest Colour and Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s Two Days, One Night.
