The audience-voted prize- the first to be awarded at what for the last 20 years has been a non-competitive event - includes a Finnish distribution deal via Finnkino.
Captain Abu Raed beat nine competitors to the top honour, adding to its previous audience award at Sundance.
The award was made at thefinal ceremonyof the festival, which closed with a screening ofLaurent Cantet's Palmed'Or winnerThe Classand surprise film, Jonathan Demme's Rachel Getting Married.
