Hong Kong-based Celestial Pictures, which operates the Celestial Movies channel, has signed an output deal with sales agent Distribution Workshop for first-run pay-TV rights of its upcoming slate of Chinese movies.
The exclusive multi-year deal covers the territories of Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia and also includes pay-per-view and VoD (video-on-demand) rights.
Among the titles covered by the agreement, which includes all the Chinese-language movies that Distribution Workshop distributes, are 3D martial arts epic, Flying Swords Of Dragon Gate (working title), directed by Tsui Hark and starring Jet Li and Zhou Xun; the Chinese remake of the hit Hollywood movie What Women Want, starring Andy Lau and Gong Li, and comedy Treasure Inn, directed by Wong Jing.
Celestial also has output deals with Media Asia Distribution and Emperor Motion Pictures.
