Hong Kong-based Celestial Pictures has signed a multi-year output deal with Emperor Motion Pictures (EMP), giving it exclusive first run pay-TV rights to screen EMP’s upcoming slate on its Celestial Movies channel.
The deal includes titles such as Shaolin, directed by Benny Chan and starring Andy Lau and Nicholas, and Jiang Wen’s action comedy, Let The Bullets Fly, in which the director also stars along with Chow Yun-Fat, Ge You and Carina Lau.
Territories covered under the deal include Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia. Reflecting the changes in the industry towards a multiplatform market, the deal also includes Pay-Per-View and Video-on-demand (VoD).
“EMP continues to produce and/or distribute some of the most exciting, high-concept movies in Asia and we are thrilled to partner with such a prolific company to premiere their slate on Celestial Movies,” said Celestial Pictures CEO Ross Pollack.
“EMP strives to produce quality films with a broad international appeal,” said EMP CEO Albert Lee. “We are excited to have concluded an exclusive output deal with Celestial Movies as it gives us a solid and proven platform to showcase our films to an even wider audience throughout the region.”
Celestial also recently signed an output with Hong Kong-based Media Asia Distribution.
