Celluloid Dreams has acquired international rights to Bahman Motamedian's feature Sex My Life. The film, which debuted in Venice last month, is a mix of documentary and fiction that follows seven transsexuals living in modern-day Tehran.
The subjects' journey to finding their true identity is demonstrated as they seek acceptance from their families and the religious authorities to have a sex change operation.
In a statement, Celluloid's Alessandro Raja said, 'The film is fascinating not only because of its rare and extremely human subject matter, but also thanks to the way Motamedian uses dramatization within the framework of a documentary to create a real trans-genre film.'
Celluloid, which has world rights to Sex, will present the film at Mipcom next week in Cannes.
