The vertically integrated entertainment company has bought film distribution company Bontonfilm, which is based in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Vertically integrated entertainment company Central European Media Enterprises Ltd has bought film and home entertainment distribution company Bontonfilm.
The acquisition of the company, which has operations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, is part of CME’s strategy to strengthen its position in Central and Eastern Europe.
In 2010 Bontonfilm generated revenues of around $37m.
CME is a vertically integrated media and entertainment company operating broadcasting, content and new media businesses in six Central and Eastern European countries – Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Romania, the Slovak Republic and Slovenia.
Adrian Sarbu, CME’s president and chief executive officer, said the acquisition “greatly complements our Czech and Slovak broadcasting operations. It will enable us to maximize the value of our own library in both markets.”
