Certified Copy , the up-coming feature from Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami, is back on track after being hit by delays. The film, starring Juliette Binoche and produced byFrance’s MK2, will begin shooting in Tuscany on June 8.
The project was due to start shooting in March last year but was delayed for various undisclosed reasons. Angelo Barbagello, the project’s Italian minority producer, confirmed the project will be begin in the summer.
It is Kiarostami’s first feature to be shot outside of his native Iran. The love story, set in the Chianti countryside, will be in French although Barbagello says part of it will be in English. Further details are due to be released imminently.
Barbagallo, a prolific producer in Italy, produced Nanni Moretti’s films for twenty years including Palme D’or winner The Son’s Room (2001) and he produces for Marco Tullio Giordana (Best of Youth). Currently on Italian screens, Barbagallo has just released Marco Risi’s Fortapasc, the true story of journalist Giancarlo Siani who was killed by the Camorra in 1985.
