Scottish feature Stone Of Destiny started principal photography this week on location in Glasgow and London.

Charlie Cox, Billy Boyd, Kate Mara, Robert Carlyle and Brenda Fricker star.

Charles Martin Smith wrote and directed the project, based on Ian Hamilton's book, The Taking Of the Stone Of Destiny.

The film is based on the true story of nationalist Ian Hamilton, one of the group who tried to bring the Stone of Scone from London back to Scotland in the 1950s. The famed block of sandstone was used for centuries for the coronation of Scottish monarchs.

Arclight is handling international sales.

Rob Merilees and Andrew Boswell are producing the Infinity Features Entertainment and Mob Film Co project.

Stone Of Destiny is a Canada-UK co-production with funding from Telefilm Canada, Paradigm London, Scottish Screen, Astral Media, The Harold Greenburg Fund, Glasgow Film Office, The Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit, Film Incentive BC, the UK Tax Credit and Alliance Atlantis Motion Picture Distribution.

Boswell said: 'The fantastic cast that we have assembled is testament to the strength of Charles' script. All the actors were excited and enthusiastic as soon as they read the screenplay; they didn't take much persuading to come on board!'

Stone Of Destiny will shoot for seven weeks.
