JG Group, Huayi Bros and Emperor Motion Pictures have announced that upcoming Jackie Chan blockbuster Chinese Zodiac will be released one year from today (December 12, 2012) in both regular and IMAX versions.
The film is currently shooting in Beijing after wrapping the French portion of its shoot, which started in June this year and took locations including Chateau de Chantilly and Musée Condé.
IMAX chairman and president of filmed entertainment, Greg Foster, said: “We are very excited to work with Jackie Chan for the first time on CZ12, which we believe has all the makings of a major international blockbuster.
“As we continue to expand our theatre network across China, we are seeing greater demand for local-language films to be presented in our immersive format. Today’s agreement emphasises that we’re listening to fans from around the world and delivering a strong film slate of not only Hollywood but Chinese blockbusters in the IMAX experience.”
Chan is directing and stars in the film with his long-time collaborator Stanley Tong on board as producer. However, the film’s investors, including Huayi Bros and EMP, have been keeping other elements of the film, such as the female lead, under wraps.
