British cinematographer Chris Menges will receive the 2010 American Society Of Cinematographers (ASC) International Achievement Award.
The tribute is presented annually to a cinematographer “who has made significant and enduring contributions to the international art of film-making.”
Menges won Academy Awards for The Mission and The Killing Fields and recently shot London Boulevard and Route Irish. His credits include The Reader (pictured), Dirty Pretty Things, Stop-Loss, The Three Burials Of Melquiades Estrada, Notes On A Scandal, and Michael Collins.
“Chris Menges has dedicated his career to helping to create films that tell the important stories of our times,” ASC president Michael Goi said. “He has a unique talent for creating compelling images that pull audiences into those stories.”
The presentation will be made at the 24th Annual ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards in Los Angeles on February 27, 2010.
