South Korean sales companyCineclick Asia has announced a strategic alliance with distributor/financierKorea Pictures, with Cineclick to represent all but two of the latter's titles.
Korea Pictures had formerlyoperated a small sales division that was a regular presence at internationalmarkets but the departure of CEO Soma Chung earlier this year resulted in thedissolution of the company's sales team.
Cineclick, meanwhile, picksup a variety of titles including Chung-yeon (Blue Swallow), a big-budgetbiopic of Korea's first woman aviator who learned to fly in Japan in the1920s.
The company will present apromo reel of the film at the upcoming AFM.
Not included in the outputdeal are the highly-anticipated Toronto premiere Duelist by Lee Myung-seand 2004 comedy Mokpo, Gangster's Paradise.
"We are happy to establish a stronger relationshipwith Cineclick Asia, not only in terms of foreign sales but more in finding theoptimum partner for our overseas operations," said Jae-young Kim, the newCEO of Korea Pictures.
Other Cineclick titles to beunveiled at AFM include Beautiful, the latest work by director KimKi-duk which is also featured in project market the Pusan Promotion Plan(October 10-12); and the first promo-reel for Bong Joon-ho'spolitically-tinged, big-budget creature movie The Host.
