The veteran actor, set to star opposite Tom Cruise in the upcoming sci-fi Oblivion, will receive the 2013 Cinema Icon Award on Apr 18 in Las Vegas.

“Freeman’s presence exudes a dignity, charm and soul unmatched by any other actor”, said CinemaCon managing director Mitch Neuhauser.

Freeman stars in the recent release Olympus Has Fallen and his credits include The Shawshank Redemption, Driving Miss Daisy, Red and Wanted.

His upcoming releases include thriller Now You See Me, comedy Last Vegas and action-adventure The Last Knights.

CinemaCon is scheduled to run at Caesars Palace from Apr 15-18.
