Czech distributor Cinemart has picked up two Karlovy Vary titles: Whisky With Vodka and A Matter Of Size.
The Match Factory is selling Whisky With Vodka, which earned Andreas Dresen the Best Director Award in Karlovy Vary. The film is a bittersweet comedy about an alcoholic actor who tries to sober up for a special role.
Cinemart previously distributed the German director’s 2002 film Grill Point. “In our dramaturgy we focus on continuity,” said Cinemart head of acquisitions Ivana Kosulicova. “We monitor further works of ‘our’ authors and we are glad to introduce to cinemas also their newest films.”
A Matter Of Size, which received the Audience Award at Karlovy Vary, is sold by K5 International. “The persuasive factor for distribution was the reception of the audience at the screenings during [the festival],” Kosulicova said.
Sharon Maymon and Erez Tadmor’s A Matter Of Size is a comedy about Israeli overweight friends who try sumo wrestling.
Cinemart will release both films in the Czech Republic this winter.
Also at Karlovy Vary, NonStop Sales closed a pay TV deal on Forbidden Fruit with Eurochannel for Latin America and other Hispanic territories.
