Leading Koreaninvestor/distributor CJ Entertainment (CJE) has appointed David Shin asexecutive vice president and head of international business, replacing MarkShaw, who recently left for a job in the US financial sector.

Most recently senior vice presidentin charge of commercial development at ESPN Star Sports in Singapore, Shin comes with a master's from USC Film School. His 15 years of experience in the media and entertainment industryincludes nine years in Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.

With this experience in the Asia market, Shin is expected to step up CJE's activities in internationaldistribution and co-production, as well as development of partnerships and newmarkets overseas.

CJE and affiliate exhibitorCJ CGV have been looking to foreign markets, most recently opening a cinema inShanghai in Oct and producing fantasy martial arts film The Restless in China. The effects-driven film opened at numberthree at the box office and has been faring worse than expected.

However, CJE is also co-producingMichael Kang's West 32nd Street with Teddy Zee (Hitch,Saving Face) in the US. The film is in post-production with the companyholding solid expectations for a release in both Korea and the US.

CJE, formerly an investor inDreamworks, has recently been announced as Paramount Pictures International'sexclusive distributor in Korea starting Feb 2007.

As a subsidiary of the CJCorp conglomerate, CJ Entertainment has affiliates in production, exhibition,music, television and theatrical performances.
