Ed Noeltner’s Cinema Management Group has acquired all international rights to Will Canon’s SXSW college fraternity thriller Brotherhood (pictured).
The film received its world premiere at SXSW on Saturday night and stars Jon Foster, Trevor Morgan, Lou Taylor Pucci and Arlen Escarpeta in the story of an ill-fated fraternity ritual.
Noeltner - who acquired a pair of titles at Sundance - accessed his new acquisitions and marketing fund provided by partners Brian and Jason Cleveland, who serve as vice-presidents of acquisitions and business development at CMG.
Canon first got involved with the story when he made a short film on the same subject called Roslyn while a student at NYU. The resulting feature was co-written by Canon and Doug Simon, and produced by Chris Pollack, Jason Croft, Steven Hein and Tim O’Hair.
Jamie Patricof, Kevin Iwashina, Darryn Welch and Chris Ouwinga served as executive producers.
“The film had its audience on the edge of their seats,” Noeltner said. “It’s very well executed and features a fabulous, talented young cast. Brotherhood is one of the best indie films I’ve seen at SXSW and we are thrilled to be working with Will and all the talented people who brought this exciting film to the screen.”
CMG negotiated the deal with Iwashina of IP Advisors and Nate Bolotin of XYZ Films and producer Pollack. Noeltner bulked up his slate at Sundance with the psychological thriller The Perfect Host, starring David Hyde Pierce, and Josh Fox’s investigate documentary Gasland.
