The Glasgow Film Festival has recruited Mark Millar as a festival ambassador.
Glasgow-based Millar is a comic-book veteran who has worked on Marvel and DC Comics greats such as Spiderman and The Fantastic Four, as well as creating Kick-Ass.
He will work with the festival programming team to create a strand of comic book films for Glasgow’s 2011 edition, as well as inviting his UK “comic buddies” as festival guests.
Millar, who attended the festival earlier this year with a sneak preview of Kick-Ass, said: “This is going to be damn good and we’ll be getting our guests together soon. Very exciting!’
Allison Gardner, GFF co-director, added: “This is a great opportunity for comic fans to see great films on the big screen, surrounded by fellow enthusiasts. We’re delighted to have Mark on board as an ambassador, he’s leading the way in regard to comic book adaptations for film and I can’t wait to see how the programme shapes up.”
The festival will run Feb 17-27.
