Bernd Eichinger's Constantin Film has signed an output deal with USA Films giving it German-speaking theatrical, free TV and video rights to the company's product until 2003.
Titles covered by the deal include One Night At McCool's, directed by Norway's Harald Zwart and starring Michael Douglas and Matt Dillon, and the Coen Brothers' latest opus, The Barber Movie, starring Frances McDormand and Billy Bob Thornton, which wrapped earlier this month.
USA has in the past sold German-speaking rights through its sales partner Good Machine International, which will continue as the primary sales agent for USA releases in other international territories. It was GMI which brought USA and Constantin together in the first place.
Constantin, currently the largest independent distributor in Germany, also has output deals with Mandalay Entertainment, Spyglass Entertainment and Morgan Creek Entertainment. And in a rush of production and co-financing deals it has pacts with Hyde Park Entertainment, Propaganda Films, Escape Artists, Impact and Key Films/Bandeira Entertainment.
