Content heads to the AFM with the latest title from its Preferred Film & TV joint venture with producer Ross M Dinerstein.
Alistair Legrand will make his feature directorial from a screenplay he co-wrote with Luke Harvis about a mother who calls in her scientist boyfriend to hunt what appears to be a violent spirit in her home.
Dinerstein’s business parter Kevin Iwashina of Preferred Content will jointly represent North American rights with Content’s Jamie Carmichael and the pair serve as executive producers.
“We are really excited to be working with Alistair on this unique project,” said Dinerstein. “Developing the film with him has been a real pleasure and we can’t wait to introduce him to the extended production family we’re building here at Preferred.”
“Our model with Ross allows us to act fast on the films we love, and The Diabolical brings a strikingly original twist on a genre we’re passionate about,” said Carmichael (pictured). “We’ve been thrilled to be able to support some very strong emerging talent this last 18 months, and we’re delighted to add Alistair to that roster.”
Production is scheduled to begin early next year and cast will be announced shortly.
The Diabolical marks the fifth film produced by Preferred Film & TV following The Pact, The Pact 2, Dark Summer and Mr Jones.
