Digital distribution company Content Republic has signed a contract with Arrow Films to make a selection of its library titles available online.
Initially, more than 60 films will be released through a range of UK retailers including LOVEFiLM and The Auteurs. Certain films will be selected for each website depending on its audience.
The first ten movies will be made available in four to six weeks time on LOVEFiLM, including Roman Polanski’s Bitter Moon. Others, including classics such as Giuseppe Tornatore’s Cinema Paradiso and Andrew Birkin’s The Cement Garden.
Each film will be digitally remastered by Content Republic to make suitable for online use.
ContentRepublic will be marketing the films via its own website and social networking sites such as Facebook.
The deal was negotiated by Teun Hilte, co-founder of Content Republic, and Alex Agran, director at Arrow Films.
