ContentFilm International has taken worldwide rights to Gabriel Range’s as yet untitled new film, which reunites Jeremy Brock and Andrea Calderwood, writer and producer of The Last King of Scotland.
The film, a thriller set against the backcloth of London’s slave trade, is now shooting in Kenya after wrapping the UK portion of its shoot in January. It is due to complete in May 2010. The cast includes Wunmi Mosaku, Isaach De Bankolé, Lubna Azabal and Igal Naor.
The film is produced by Calderwood and executive produced by Gail Egan, Liza Marshall, Katherine Butler and Range. Financing comes from the UK FilmCouncil, Channel 4, the Film Agency for Wales, Limelight and Molinare.
Range won the International Critic’s Prize in Toronto 2006 for his directorial debut Death of a President.
