ContentFilm International has acquired international rights to two new films, documentary Separado! and comedy A Bit of Tom Jones?, ahead of MIPCOM.
Separado!, a road movie following Super Furry Animals singer Gruff Rhys as he looks for his long-lost Patagonian uncle/former Welsh TV host. The film is co-financed by the Film Agency For Wales. Dylan Goch and Gruff Rhys direct the film, and Rhys also composed the soundtrack.
Producer Catryn Ramasut says “We are delighted to be working with ContentFilm and launching the film at MIP. “Separado! is proving to be a great hit in the UK and we are confident of its international appeal.”
A Bit of Tom Jones? is a comedy about a man trying to sell the severed penis of the Welsh showman. The cast features Jonathan Owen, Roger Evans, John Henshaw, and Matt Berry, Margaret John.
Peter Watkins-Hughes, who wrote and directed, said “The success of A Bit of Tom Jones? in Wales has been staggering. After beating Hollywood blockbusters in Welsh multiplexes, it’s great to be with a company like Content who can give our film a world stage.’”
ContentFilm will be selling the both films at MIPCOM.CFI’s Head of TV & DVD sales Toby Melling said, “ContentFilm is delighted to be handling these two highly original, quirky but very different Welsh films and we are sure that each will find their own strong fan base.”
ContentFilm International’s slate includes The Dog Squad: 3D, The Numbers Station, Ironclad, Age of Heroes and Welcome To The Rileys.
