Copenhagen's first international documentary film festival, cph:dox, will take place from Nov 7-16 2003.
The new independent festival is organised by the NatFilm Festival in cooperation with the Copenhagen Cinémathèque and the European Documentary Network.
cph:dox plans to present some 60 new international documentaries. Like its popular sister event NatFilm, cph:dox is an audience festival, but will feature an international competition-programme and a number of thematic side-programmes modelled on the NatFilm Festival.
An international jury will judge the competing films. In cooperation with Amnesty International, cph:dox will also showcase films which focus on problems related to human rights. The 10 films selected for this Amnesty-programme will be nominated for the new Amnesty Award to be presented by a special jury.
cph:dox will be screening films from all over the world and aims for all activities, juries and invited directors to support this international vision.
Among its backers are film directors Lars von Trier, Joergen Leth, Jon Bang Carlsen and Mikala Krogh. Tine Fischer is head of programming.
