Andre Turpin's Un Crabe Dans La Tete has been selected as Canada's entry for the Best Foreign Language film at next year's Academy Awards.
Produced by Montreal-based Qu4tre par Quatre Films, the film premiered last year at the Toronto International Film Festival and also screened at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival under the title Soft Shell Man. The film is distributed in Canada and sold internationally by Montreal-based Film Tonic.
Turpin, who wrote and directed the film, was the cinematographer on fellow Quebecois filmmaker Denis Villeneuve's two features, August 32nd On Earth and Maelstrom.
