Dark Castle Entertainment has started principal photography on The Losers, which will shoot entirely on location in Puerto Rico.

Sylvain White (Stomp The Yard) directs the film, which Peter Berg and James Vanderbilt adapted from the comic book series published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint.

The ensemble cast includes Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Holt McCallany, Oscar Jaenada and Jason Patric. The plot follows a US Special Forces unit who goes into the Bolivian jungle on a search-and-destroy mission, where they are betrayed.

Producers are Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman.

The creative team also includes DoP Scott Kevan, editor David Checel, production designer Aaron Osborne, visual effects supervisor Richard Yuricich, and costume designer Magali Guidasci.

Warner Bros Pictures will distribute worldwide starting in April 2010.
