Robert De Niro will star inBarry Levinson's comedy What JustHappened' for 2929 Productions which is based on Art Linson's book andscreenplay about his experiences in
2929 will fully finance theproject and the company's sales chief Shebnem Askin will commence internationalsales at the AFM next week. No domestic distributor is attached as yet.
De Niro will play adespairing film producer who tries to hold on to his dignity during ahumiliating stage of his career. A number of stars including Sean Penn areexpected to play cameos of themselves once the summer 2006 shoot gets underway.
De Niro is producing withhis Tribeca Films partner Jane Rosenthal and Linson. 2929 co-chiefs Todd Wagnerand Mark Cuban serve as executive producers with 2929 president Marc Butan.
Levinson directed De Niro inthe 1997 satire Wag The Dog, whichthe pair produced with Rosenthal, as well as the 1996 drama
Linson's producer creditsinclude Heat and The Untouchables, which both starred De Niro, Fight Club, and Brian De Palma's upcoming The Black Dahlia.
