India’s Yash Raj Films has announced that upcoming action thriller Dhoom 3 will be the first Bollywood film to be released in the IMAX format.
The film will be digitally re-mastered in the IMAX format and released in IMAX theatres across India and select international locations next year. IMAX currently has 13 theatres open to contracted to open in India.
Starring Aamir Khan, Dhoom 3 is the third installment in one of India’s biggest franchises revolving around a no-nonsense cop and his scatter-brained partner. The film will be produced by Aditya Chopra and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya. Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Katrina Kaif round out the cast.
