Open Road will distribute Dax Shepard’s caper in the US in 2012 while a slew of deals have closed outside North America following a strong market launch at AFM by Exclusive Films International.
Momentum has acquired rights for the UK, Square One for Germany, Metropolitan for France, Aurum for Spain, Pinnacle Films for Australia and New Zealand, Swen for Latin America, MisLabel for Scandinavia and Lusomundo for Portugal.
Elsewhere deals have closed in Switzerland (Ascot Elite), Middle East (Front Row), Benelux (Independent), South Africa (Nu Metro), Greece, (Audiovisual), Hong Kong (Golden Scene), Taiwan (Blockbuster), Singapore (Cathay Keris), India/Pakistan (Tanweer), Indonesia (PT Amero), South-East Asian TV (Star TV), Thailand (Media Films), Israel (United King) and Iceland (Sam Film).
Open Road Films’ Tom Ortenberg, general counsel and evp of operations and business affairs Elliott Kleinberg and svp of acquisitions Ben Cotner negotiated the US deal with Jamie Feldman and Linda Lichter of Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Adler and Feldman.
Shepard wrote and directed Outrun and stars as a getaway driver chased by police and former gang associates as he races his girlfriend to Los Angeles for her dream job. Bradley Cooper, Kristen Bell and Tom Arnold also star.
David Palmer co-directs the project, which is currently in post, and Andrew Panay, Nate Tuck and Kim Waltrip and Jim Casey serve as producers. Exclusive Media Group production head Tobin Armbrust brought the project to the company and serves as executive producer.
