The distributor has swooped on Austin Chick’s popular SXSW Midnighter entry following its Friday premiere in Austin.
K5 announced on Sunday it had acquired international sales rights for the Cannes market.
Danielle Panabaker and Nicole LaLiberte star in the story of a student who is sexually assaulted and hatches a vengeful plot. Aimee Shieh and Clay Floren produced.
Josh Thomashow and Michele Sanchez at Anchor Bay negotiated the deal with Ben Weiss at Paradigm on behalf of the filmmakers.
“The film is a perfect addition to our 2012 line-up,” Anchor Bay evp of acquisitions and co-productions Kevin Kasha said. “Anchor Bay has just the audience base for it.”
“We are so excited to be the first film to sell at SXSW and very pleased that Anchor Bay will bring Girls Against Boys to theatres this year,” Chick added.
