Saskatoon-based Angel Entertainment Corporation acquired a minority ownership in Toronto-based Union Pictures.
The two companies will work together to build the Canadian market and audiences for Canadian feature films.
“The distribution sector is rapidly evolving and we are very happy to partner with Union, the new player in the distribution arena,” said Bob Crowe, co-president of Angel. “We are impressed with the team’s plans for growing the company and expanding relationships with filmmakers and the Canadian marketplace.”
The equity deal is the first of what will be a step-deal as further resources are sought. Union, which was founded in 2008, is both a distribution and production company.
