Snoot Entertainment’s martial arts bonanza stars Josh Hartnett, Ron Perlman, Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson.
The film premiered in Toronto last autumn and follows a drifter and a Japanese warrior who team up to overthrow an evildoer in a small town. Guy Moshe wrote and directed and Kevin McKidd, Jordi Molla and Japanese actors Gackt Camui and Shun Sugata round out the key cast.
Snoot Entertainment’s Keith Calder and Jessica Wu produced with Nava Levin of Picturesque Films and Ram Bergman. IM Global handles international sales.
“Bunraku’s visually dazzling world melds Samurai films, spaghetti westerns, gangster movies and graphic novels in a way audiences have never seen before,” XLrator Media’s Barry Gordon said. “Plus the fight scenes kick ass.”
“Bunraku breaks the mould of the traditional action film with eye-popping CGI imagery and elaborately choreographed fight scenes and I am excited to work with the innovative teams at ARC and XLrator to bring it to screens across America,” Calder said.
