EXCLUSIVE: The Killing’s Sofie Grabol [pictured] leads the cast.
Arrow Films has acquired all UK/Ireland rights to The Hour of the Lynx and plans a release in late 2013.
Søren Kragh-Jacobsen (Mifune) directs and Lars Bredo Rahbek (Flame and Citron, Superclasico) produces. The Match Factory handles international sales on the film, which is in the final stages of post production.
Kragh-Jacobsen also wrote with Jonas T Bengtsson and Tobias Lindholm. The story is based on a play by Swedish author Per Olov Enquist (The Visit Of The Royal Physician).
The cast is led by Sofie Grabol and Soren Malling, who both starred in The Killing, alongside Borgen’s Signe Egholm Olsen and Borie Ahlstedt, whose credits include Fanny & Alexander.
Grabol plays a vicar whose life is changed when she tries to help a violent and troubled inmate.
Arrow head of acquisitions Tom Stewart said: “We’re incredibly thrilled to be acquiring this exciting new film and to continue our superb relationship with the team at The Match Factory together with establishing a strong relationship with everyone over at Nimbus Film. With such a loved cast and our ever-increasing portfolio of all things Nordic, this will be a wonderful release to take to both UK & Eire audiences.
“We are happy to partner again with Arrow Films, who share our enthusiasm for the new project of this great director. Arrow Films will do a great job, as they did already on other Scandinavian titles,” added Brigitte Suárez of The Match Factory.
Producer Rahbek added: “We are delighted at the early and rapidly surging international interest in The Hour of The Lynx. Søren has done an incredibly strong film which we trust will touch and thrill in equal measure. We look forward to be working with Arrow Films to bring this film to audiences as discriminating as the British and the Irish.”
