The Ballet In Cinema series will add two performances to be presented in November by Emerging Pictures and National CineMedia’s Fathom Events.
Moscow’s Bloshoi Ballet will broadcast The Sleeping Beauty with a live HD performance scheduled for Nov 20 with an encore performance on Nov 22. It will mark the debut of David Hallberg who is the first American to join Bolshoi as a principal dancer.
To kick off the holidays, an encore performance of Esmeralda will broadcast in select theatres on Nov 30.
“We’re very excited to be joining Fathom Events in this initial venture,” co-managing director of Emerging Cinema Ira Deutchman said. “Ever since we started the Ballet In Cinema series, we have been receiving requests from all over the country.
“By expanding the number of screens showcasing these extraordinary arts events, we’ll enable many more thousands of viewers across the country to enjoy these world class ballet performances.”
Past Bolshoi Ballet events featured on Fathom’s programming include The Phantom Of The Opera anniversary event live from London’s Royal Albert Hall.
