A revitalised Cannes market has translated into sell-outs on key titles as buyers flocked to Summit International’s Pompeii and Tarzan 3D, Exclusive Films International’s End Of Watch and Lionsgate’s Great Hope Springs.

Exclusive’s international sales chief Alex Walton has licensed rights to the David Ayer police thriller End Of Watch for the UK (Optimum), France (Metropolitan), Australia/New Zealand (Roadshow), Italy (Videa) and CIS (Paradise).

Deals also closed in Latin America (California), Scandinavia (Nordisk), Benelux (Independent), Hong Kong (Golden Scene), Singapore (Golden Village), South Africa (Nu Metro) and Thailand (M Pictures). A deal has also closed in Germany.

The project is in pre-production and stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena as members of the LAPD who take on a Mexican cartel.

Summit International president David Garrett reported that rights to the $90-100m romantic adventure Pompeii were licensed to France (TF1/UGC), CIS (Paradise), Italy (Rai), Scandinavia (Nordisk), Benelux (RCV), South Korea (Daisy), Singapore (Shaw) and Hong Kong (Edko).

Producer Constantin will release in Germany and as previously reported eOne holds UK and Canadian rights, Icon has Australia, Imagem has Latin America and Aurum will release in Spain.

Shooting is tentatively set to begin in March or April 2012, by which time Summit’s The Three Musketeers director Paul W S Anderson is expected to have wrapped production on Resident Evil 5. Summit Entertainment plans US summer release in 2013.

Meanwhile the Constantin production Tarzan 3D that Richard Kloos will direct has sold mostly to the same distributors as Pompeii except Metropolitan in France, Medusa in Italy, Belga in Benelux, Deltamac in Hong Kong and Woosong in South Korea. eOne holds UK rights only.

Lionsgate sales chief Helen Lee Kim has announced a slew of sales on David Frankel’s sex therapy comedy Great Hope Springs to star Meryl Streep and Steve Carell, led by a sale to the Alliance group for the UK and Spain and Wild Bunch for Germany and Italy.

Deals also closed for France (Metropolitan), Roadshow for Australia/New Zealand, CIS (West), Scandinavia (Mis.label), South Korea (Daisy), Taiwan (SSG), Benelux (eOne) and Singapore (Cathay).
