Cinelou Films producers Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon have launched prestige label Cinelou Releasing and kick off with Jennifer Aniston dark comedy Cake.
The distributor has set a qualifying run in December, throwing Anniston into potential awards contention for her role as an acerbic woman in search of meaningful human connection.
The label plans to release four films over the next year and has signed a deal with Warner Bros to handle international distribution on six films from the slate over the next three years.
“We congratulate Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon on their new company, Cinelou Releasing,” said Warner Bros president of international distribution Veronika Kwan Vandenberg.
“We look forward to our upcoming international collaborations with them beginning next year with Cake.”
Cinelou financed and produced the drama through its $100m financing alliance with Taiwan-based Shenghua Entertainment.
Canton produced with Kristin Hahn, Ben Barnz and Solomon. Felicity Huffman, William H Macy, Chris Messina and Britt Robertson round out the cast.
The film premiered in Toronto.
