The Cinema Guild has acquired US distribution rights to Matt Porterfield’s Putty Hilland set the drama for an autumn theatrical opening. The company has also picked up US DVD and VOD rights to Porterfield’s first film, Hamilton.
Set on the eve of a funeral where mourners share memories of their poverty-stricken community, Putty Hill had its world premiere at this year’s Berlin festival and its North American premiere at the SXSW festival. Produced by Jordan Mintzer, Steve Holmgren, Joyce Kim and Eric Bannat it won the Jury Award at the 2010 Atlanta Film Festival.
Hamilton was released theatrically in 2006.
The deal was negotiated by Ryan Krivoshey of The Cinema Guild with Kimberly M Jaime, Esq on behalf of the filmmakers.
The Cinema Guild’s other upcoming releases include Jacques Rivette’s Around a Small Mountain and Jeff Malmberg’s Marwencol.
