Cinetic Media and Independent are collaborating on a new joint venture, Cinetic at Independent, to collaborate on world sales for each company’s slate.

The new venture kicks off here at EFM, with Cinetic films including Exit Through The Gift Shop, Abel, Holy Rollers and Meek’s Cutoff.

The companies plan to work together with future titles and also for Cinetic to help with North American sales for Independent projects

Cinetic Media partners John Sloss and Bart Walker said: “We have always had an orientation to maximizing world values and securing the best distribution possible throughout the world for our filmmakers and projects. International distributors and financiers have been at the center of many of our films.

In our friend Luc Roeg and his team, we have found both a shared commitment and a shared sensibility. Our projects are often the films people remember at the end of the year. We look forward to working with Luc, Andrew Orr and their team so that the successes we enjoy can be worldwide.”

Luc Roeg added: “We are delighted to be collaborating with Cinetic on these wonderful films and we look forward to working closely with them in the future. John and Bart are connoisseur’s of independent cinema and have built a very impressive and progressive company; it’s these shared core values that we hope will lead to a long and successful working relationship.”

Cinetic had previously launched its own fledgling international sales arm, Cinetic International, in 2009 under Shebnem Askin-Schreger, who left the company in summer 2010.

Meanwhile, Independent’s slate includes Lynne Ramsay’s We Need To Talk About Kevin and Hunky Dory starring Minnie Driver.
