Summertime Entertainment has signed a deal with Clarius Entertainment for what it said would be a wide theatrical release with “significant” p&a of 3D animated musical Legends Of Oz: Dorothy’s Return.

Summertime’s Ryan Carroll is targeting completion by summer and will feature the voices of Lea Michele as Dorothy, Jim Belushi as the Lion, Dan Aykroyd as Scarecrow, Kelsey Grammer as The Tin Man and Bernadette Peters as Glinda.

The film is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2014. An as yet unannounced studio partner will distribute on home entertainment and the producers are in talks for international distribution.

Carroll said the film would kick off what he expected to become an Oz-themed transmedia franchise.
