Edward Noeltner’s Beverly Hills-based sales company Cinema Management Group (CMG) has returned from a successful Toronto led by sales on the upcoming action thriller Blood Out.
Noeltner pre-sold the project, which is in in post-production and stars Luke Goss, Vinnie Jones, Val Kilmer, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, AnnaLynne McCord and Tamer Hassan, to Universal Pictures International for Germany, France, Benelux and Brazil.
Los Angeles-based Film Depot acquired rights for the CIS territories based on footage. CMG has closed deals in more than 25 territories and Noeltner said the film would be delivered in December and will open in North America through Grindstone/Lionsgate in the first quarter of 2011.
“We had been in discussions with Universal’s Bob Aaronson and Jasper van Hecke since start of principal photography in May,” Noeltner, said, “but the footage we showed in Toronto turned the discussions into a deal.”
CMG introduced its new thriller Carjacked starring Maria Bello and Stephen Dorff, which sold last week to Anchor Bay for English-speaking territories.
Wild Bunch’s Marc Gabizon picked up all German-speaking rights and all Latin American pay and free TV rights went to Pedro Leda’s Videx. Playarte in Brazil picked up all remaining rights in Brazil and Front Row acquired for the Middle East.
Carjackedis scheduled to commence principal photography on November 15 and is being directed by John Bonito and produced by Dan Grodnik.
CMG also licensed rights to its new action thriller House Of The Rising Sunto Momentum and Alliance Pictures for the UK and Canada, Transmission Films for Australia and New Zealand and Front Row Pictures for the Middle East.
Brian A Miller will direct six-time WWE heavyweight world champion David Bautista alongside Dominic Purcell, Amy Smart, Craig Fairbrass and Danny Trejo. Principal photography is set to begin in October with delivery scheduled for second quarter 2011.
“With the pre-sale market very much back in action in Toronto, we are looking forward to a vibrant AFM in November where we will be announcing further new titles for international distribution,” Noeltner said.
