The Weinstein Company (TWC) has cancelled Tuesday nights’ [18] Los Angeles premiere of Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained while Paramount has altered its campaign for Jack Reacher.
A spokesperson for TWC said: “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, and in this time of national mourning we have decided to forgo our scheduled event.”
The spokesperson added: “However, we will be holding a private screening for the cast and crew and their friends and families.”
Meanwhile reports said Paramount’s marketing team had cut a scene of Tim Cruise firing a semi-automatic gun in promotional materials for the action film Jack Reacher.
Twenty children and six adults died on Friday [16] when gunman Adam Lanza went on a rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary school.
