The distributor has swooped on Canadian rights to Richard Ayoade’s forthcoming Toronto world premiere The Double.
Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska star in the adaptation of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s darkly comic novella about an ordinary man who breaks down after he spots his doppelganager.
Ayoade and Avi Korine co-wrote the screenplay. Ayoade’s first film Submarine premiered in Toronto in 2010.
D Films brokered the deal with international rights holder Protagonist Pictures and plans a winter 2014 release.
The Double is a FILM4 & BFI presentation of an Alcove production in association with Protagonist, co-produced by Attercop Productions and MC Pictures.
