Canada’s D Films has signed an exclusive long-term output deal with New York-based Emerging Pictures to distribute alternative programming.

The agreement includes Canadian distribution rights to Emerging’s live opera and ballet from London’s Royal Opera House and Shakespeare plays from the Globe Theatre.

Emerging’s Opera In Cinema series, now in its fourth year, includes live operas from Milan’s Teatro Alla Scala and Barcelona’s Gran Teatre Del Liceu, and will now also include two new series - Ballet In Cinemaand Shakespeare In Cinema.

The deal was negotiated by Jim Sherry and by Tony Cianciotta for D Films and Ira Deutchman on behalf of Emerging Pictures.
