US production and distribution company D Street Media Group has signed on to release the Afrikaans film Roepman, in all media across North America.
D Street has also signed a first-look deal with the film’s producers Bosbok Ses Films (BSF) for their next three projects.
“The acquisition of Roepman continues D Street Media Group’s commitment to bringing the best and most thought provoking international films to North America,” said D Street CEO Dexter Davis. “We cannot properly convey the excitement we have with the introduction of the first South African film in the Afrikaans language to the US audience.”
“From the beginning we set out to produce a world-class film and everyone who worked on Roepman bought into this mindset,” said Bosbok Ses Films (BSF) CEO Piet de Jager, who served as executive producer on Roepman. “Because of this, the dream of releasing and Afrikaans film in the USA became a reality.”
Roepmanis set to be released in early 2012. It is South Africa’s third highest grossing Afrikaans film to date.
