Easy A producer Zanne Devine has formally unveiled the Canadian multi-platform distributor Pacific Northwest Pictures.
The Vancouver-based company will acquire, produce and release Canadian films through all platforms including theatrical, DVD, on-demand, cable and broadcast television, and online. Santa Monica-based Myriad Pictures will handle international sales on select titles.
Devine will split her time between Los Angeles and Vancouver and is joined by vp of production and development Emily Alden.
The initial slate include the first release You Are Here, an exploration of consciousness by vide artist Daniel Cockburn, the recently announced urban thriller Charlie Zone that is currently shooting in Nova Scotia, comedy Sisters & Brothers starring Amanda Crew and Dustin Milligan and family drama Rain Down with Alyson Drysdale.
“We are so pleased that PNP is now up and running,” Devine said. “We spent a considerable amount of time in the strategic phase, analysing the need for and the ability of the Canadian marketplace to support a new distribution company. We were pleasantly surprised by the outpouring of support for a Vancouver-based distribution company.”
Devine most recently served as executive producer on Cinema Verite for HBO starring Diane Lane, Tim Robbins and James Gandolfini and during her tenure as president of production at Beacon Pictures she served as executive producer on The Guardian starring Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher.
She also served as president of The Kennedy/Marshall Company and svp at PolyGram Filmed Entertainment
Alden joined Pacific Northwest Pictures in June 2010 as vp of production and development and began her career working at Raven West Films in development.
