In what will come as no surprise, Steven Spielberg’s Abraham Lincoln drama has been thrust into the heart of awards season.

The DreamWorks film was produced in association with Participant Media and will open in limited release through Touchstone Pictures before expanding a week later. Fox holds international distribution rights.

Daniel Day-Lewis stars as the 16th President of the United States. Sally field plays his wife Mary Todd Lincoln and the key cast includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Robert Todd Lincoln, Tommy Lee Jones as political opponent Thaddeus Stevens and Jared Harris as Union General Ulysses S Grant.

Spielberg produces Lincoln with longtime collaborator Kathleen Kennedy.
