Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International (WDSMPI) launches sci-fi thriller Surrogates day-and-date with North American in nine territories this weekend.
The Bruce Willis vehicle opened in Russia, Australia, Hong Kong and Israel on September 24 and arrives in the UK on September 25, when it also debuts in Spain, Poland, Turkey and the Philippines. Taiwan is set for September 26.
Meanwhile the romantic comedy The Proposal has reached $136.6m so far and executives will look to the September 23 launch in France to push it past $140m.
Family title G-Force touched down in Italy, New Zealand and Greece on September 24 and stands at $86.3m, while Pixar’s Up on $201.1m opens in Norway on September 25.
Sony Pictures Releasing International’s thriller remake The Taking Of Pelham 123 on $64.3m launches in Germany and Mexico on September 25 on 300 and 351 prints, respectively.
Romantic comedy The Ugly Truth on $48.4m opens in ten or so territories including Belgium on September 23, while the sci-fi action release District 9 has reached $47.8m through all distributors and opens in several new markets, among them Italy on September 25 on 285 prints.
The animated children’s film Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs has grossed an early $7.9m. Drama Julie & Julia has no major openings and stands at $7.2m.
Universal/UPI’s wartime action film Inglourious Basterds from Quentin Tarantino stands at $120.7m and opens in UAE and other Middle East territories on September 24, while Ang Lee’s drama Taking Woodstock arrives in France on September 23 and Spain two days later. Drama The Soloist opens in the UK and Mexico on September 25.
Fox International’s family title Aliens In The Attic on $25.6m arrives in Brazil on September 25, while the romantic comedy 500 Days Of Summer on $6.9m opens in Holland and Switzerland on September 24.
Horror comedy Jennifer’s Body lands in Spain on September 25 and latest figures from Fox International put the animated family smash Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaursat $674.7m.
Fox’s released the local language Wuestenblume in Germany on September 24 and the drama recently premiered at Venice.
Summit International’s horror remake Sorority Row lands in Brazil and Taiwan this weekend.
Drama Bandslam on $6.4m opens in Italy, Italian-speaking Switzerland and Hong Kong and Guiseppe Tornatore’s epic drama Baaria opens in Italy.
Warner Bros Pictures International’s comedy The Hangover has amassed $179.9m while horror tale The Final Destination stands at $77.2m. Steven Soderbergh’s crime caper The Informant!starring Matt Damon opens in Spain.
Paramount/PPI’s action release G.I. Joe: The Rose Of Cobra has grossed $148.7m so far.
